Original painting by Jay Lynch featuring the character Nard from Lynch’s classic “Nard n’ Pat” comix series. We are told this is only one of two paintings Lynch created of these characters in the early 2000s, ahead of a planned update to the series. Acrylic on canvas.

Jay Lynch (1945 - 2017) was an American cartoonist who was a significant figure in the underground comix movement. Perhaps best known as the writer for Bazooka Joe for over twenty years, Lynch was also instrumental in the underground comix scent, including co-creating the magazine Bijou Funnies. He wrote Phoebe and the Pigeon People, which ran for seventeen years in the Chicago Reader, and contributed to Mad magazine and Topps’ Wacky Packages and Garbage Pail Kids.
